LIDO KEY ADDITION

The pre-existing design was built in a series of definitive spaces that neither took advantage of the exterior Florida landscape nor the views out towards Sarasota Bay. Because of this, the goal of the renovation/addition was to work with the existing structure and open up the back-end of the design – thereby creating a fluid connection of spaces that capitalized on the exterior landscape and views out towards the bay.

A large thirty-foot roof overhang was added over the existing pool to create a uniform gesture from the interior spaces outward – framing views over the bay, with only a delicate steel column holding its corner. Smaller moments then begin to break through this gesture to provide alternative vantage points across the bay and to the nearby mangrove island (as seen in the dining wing of the design).
